1. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This section explains what data taplr collects, how it is used, and how it is protected.

• What we collect: Your email address and connection activity (e.g. taps sent, received, and timestamps) are collected solely to provide the check-in service.
• How data is stored: All data is stored securely on Google Firebase infrastructure. Firebase applies industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.
• No third-party sharing: We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data is used exclusively to operate the taplr service.
• Push notifications: taplr requests permission to send push notifications. Notifications are sent only for check-in activity — to inform you of incoming taps and to remind you before your tap window closes.
• Custom messages: Personalised messages you include in connection requests are stored in our database but are not end-to-end encrypted. Please do not include sensitive personal information in tap messages.
• Account deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app under Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.

2. Safety & Wellbeing

taplr is designed as a supplementary check-in companion. It is intended to support ongoing connection between people who have mutually agreed to use the app for that purpose.

• taplr is not a substitute for emergency services. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services (e.g. 000 in Australia, 911 in the US).
• The app is not a monitoring or alert tool for medical, crisis, or welfare check purposes. It should not be relied upon in situations where the absence of a tap could indicate a serious risk to life.
• taplr is suitable for maintaining casual, warm connection between willing participants. Both parties must agree to the connection and its parameters before any check-in arrangement begins.

3. Liability Disclaimer

The taplr app and its associated services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

• No uptime guarantee: Olitech Pty Ltd does not guarantee continuous or uninterrupted availability of the taplr service.
• Technical failures: We are not liable for any harm, loss, or damage arising from missed or delayed notifications due to technical failures including network outages, device issues, operating system restrictions, or disruptions to Firebase or third-party services.
• Notification delivery: Push notification delivery is managed by Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM) and is subject to their respective platform limitations. We cannot guarantee delivery of every notification.
• Limitation of liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Olitech Pty Ltd shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the taplr service.

4. Acceptable Use

By using taplr, you agree to use the service for lawful, good-faith check-in purposes only. The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:

• Using taplr to harass, stalk, intimidate, or abuse another person.
• Sending unwanted connection requests to people who have not consented to receiving them.
• Attempting to circumvent connection limits, access other users' data, or interfere with the service.
• Using the app for any commercial, automated, or bulk messaging purpose.
• Violating any applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations in connection with your use of taplr.

Violations of these terms may result in immediate account termination at our sole discretion, without prior notice or refund.

5. Changes to These Terms

Olitech Pty Ltd reserves the right to update or modify these terms at any time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of taplr after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you should discontinue use of the app.
